This privacy policy describes how the little money mobile and web app (“the app”) handles information about you. little money is a currency converter published by littledots studio, an imprint of Bytegold e.U. (about littledots studio). Bytegold e.U. is the data controller responsible for the app under applicable data-protection law.

Summary

little money is an offline-first currency converter. It does not create user accounts, collect personal data, run analytics, show advertising, or include third-party tracking SDKs. The only network traffic the app makes is to fetch up-to-date exchange-rate data from a public exchange-rate API; those requests do not carry any personal data about you.

Information little money collects about you

None. little money does not collect personal data, account information, contact details, location, device identifiers, usage statistics, crash reports, advertising IDs, or any other information about you.

Information little money stores on your device

The app stores the following items locally on your own device, using the operating system’s standard local-storage facilities (AsyncStorage on iOS and Android, the browser’s local storage on the web/PWA):

  • the most recent exchange-rate snapshot fetched from the public rates API (storage key `mc-rates`),
  • the list of supported currencies returned by the public rates API (storage key `mc-currencies`),
  • your preferences: selected “from” / “to” currencies, last-edited amount, and your list of favorite currencies (storage key `mc-prefs`).

This data:

  • never leaves your device,
  • is not transmitted to littledots studio, Bytegold e.U., or any third party,
  • is accessible only to the little money app on that device,
  • is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data from your device’s settings.

Network connections the app makes

To keep exchange rates up to date, little money fetches rate data from a public, open-source exchange-rate API (`@fawazahmed0/currency-api`). The app loads the data from one of two public CDNs:

  • jsDelivr (`cdn.jsdelivr.net`) — primary
  • Cloudflare Pages (`latest.currency-api.pages.dev`) — fallback if jsDelivr is unreachable

These requests are plain HTTP GETs for public rate data only. The app does not send any account information, identifiers, location, or personal data with these requests. As with any internet request, the operators of those CDNs (jsDelivr and Cloudflare) will see standard connection metadata such as your IP address and the User-Agent string of your device or browser; their handling of that metadata is governed by their own privacy policies. little money has no business or data-sharing relationship with either provider beyond using their public CDN endpoints.

The app uses the operating system’s network-status API (via `@react-native-community/netinfo`) to detect whether the device is online so it can show an offline banner. This check is local to the device and does not involve any network request to littledots studio or Bytegold e.U.

Sharing with third parties

little money does not share any information with third parties for marketing, analytics, advertising, or profiling purposes. The app does not contain analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporters, or other third-party libraries that transmit user data off-device. The only outbound traffic is the rate-fetch described above.

Permissions

little money does not request runtime permissions for camera, microphone, contacts, location, photos, or storage access beyond the app’s own private storage area provided by the operating system. The app uses standard internet access in order to fetch exchange-rate data.

Children

little money does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). The app is suitable for all ages.

Your rights and your data

Because no personal data ever leaves your device, there is no server-side record at littledots studio or Bytegold e.U. for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You can:

  • Delete all your data at any time by uninstalling little money or by clearing the app’s storage from your device’s system settings.

If you live in the EU/EEA, the UK, or another region with comparable data-protection law, you nonetheless retain your statutory rights with respect to Bytegold e.U. as the data controller. To exercise those rights, contact us using the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at https://littledots.com/privacy/little-money/ with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be reflected in the app’s release notes.
